Windows Guides - Installing Windows on a System

There can be 2 scenarios.
  1. System is not having any OS installed / Installed OS is not booting.
  2. System is having a working OS already.

Scenario 1 - System is not having any OS installed / Installed OS is not booting.
  • In this scenario, we would need to connect a bootable Windows USB and go to BIOS / Boot settings.
  • Depending on your system, boot options might open by pressing Del or F1 key while it is booting up.
  • You can refer your manufacturer’s website / manual to find your BIOS key.
  • Under boot settings, set system to boot from USB.
  • Save changes and exit.
  • After restarting, Windows setup will start.
  • Follow instructions as mentioned in the setup to continue Installing Windows.

Scenario 2 - System is having a working OS already.
  • If you have a working Operating System (Windows 8 or newer), you can go to “Advanced Startup” under Recovery settings.
  • Post booting into Advanced Startup screen, choose Use a device.
  • Select the connected Bootable Windows USB.
  • Windows Setup will start.
  • Follow instructions as mentioned in the setup to continue Installing Windows.

Things to note:
  • Set a strong password for Windows post installation.
  • If installing Windows on a laptop, keep it connected to power.
  • System might restart several times during installation.
  • Only boot from the USB once, after Windows setup starts and system restarts, continue booting from Internal storage.
After installing Windows, don't forget to install drivers.
