Windows Guides - Installing Windows on a System
There can be 2 scenarios.
- System is not having any OS installed / Installed OS is not booting.
- System is having a working OS already.
Scenario 1 - System is not having any OS installed / Installed OS is not booting.
- In this scenario, we would need to connect a bootable Windows USB and go to BIOS / Boot settings.
- Depending on your system, boot options might open by pressing Del or F1 key while it is booting up.
- You can refer your manufacturer’s website / manual to find your BIOS key.
- Under boot settings, set system to boot from USB.
- Save changes and exit.
- After restarting, Windows setup will start.
- Follow instructions as mentioned in the setup to continue Installing Windows.
Scenario 2 - System is having a working OS already.
- If you have a working Operating System (Windows 8 or newer), you can go to “Advanced Startup” under Recovery settings.
- Post booting into Advanced Startup screen, choose Use a device.
- Select the connected Bootable Windows USB.
- Windows Setup will start.
- Follow instructions as mentioned in the setup to continue Installing Windows.
Things to note:
- Set a strong password for Windows post installation.
- If installing Windows on a laptop, keep it connected to power.
- System might restart several times during installation.
- Only boot from the USB once, after Windows setup starts and system restarts, continue booting from Internal storage.
After installing Windows, don't forget to install drivers.
